Sounds delish! I just tried a Slovenian Sauvignon Blanc the other day- also a huge surprise! Full of vibrant fruit and chalky minerality- will easily age- this was a 2011 from Domaine Ciringa called Fosilni Breg for the fossils in the soil. Actually made by Austrian producer Tement, from vineyards right across the border from his own Sauvignon Blanc.

Hey Mark! Apologies for the delayed response. Very cool! Yeah, my expectations were understandably ultra-low. Like I said, my biggest surprise was that it held-up as well as it did….although a day open (cork in) in the fridge and it died pretty quickly.

Delighted to see a review of a Slovenian wine from such a relatively small producer.

One Slovenian dish which springs to mind is Prekmurska Gibanica which I think I can safely say is one of the most delicious puddings I have ever tasted.
