San-Francisco-Wine-Tasting-Boat-Sinks

22 people who were having the time of their lives aboard San Francisco Bay’s only “floating wine tasting room,” had to be rescued this last Friday from after the boat hit hit a spot of bother near Alcatraz Island, officials have stated.

The 45-foot long “Neptune” started taking on water after an impact with an underwater shoal left a 1-foot hole in the side of the boat. The captain attempted to steer it to San Francisco’s Pier 39, the boat started having rudder issues and began to sink about 300 feet from the pier.

Fortunately, the Coast Guard was able to take all 22 occupants of the stricken vessel without any reported injuries.

My Thoughts…

I’ve been to quite a few wine tastings where I wished most of the people around me would just go and drown, but THIS is ridiculous! :)

A Quick Vineyard Tour of Alsace for Rally Driver Petter Solberg. Those Poor Grapes!

A Quick Vineyard Tour of Alsace for Rally Driver Petter Solberg.

Rally driver Petter Solberg clearly must be more of a beer drinker, as is shown in these two videos by his blatant disregard for the delicate grapes of Alsace!

The Norwegian Solberg started the day in 4th place, narrowly missed spectators when he careened off the road on the opening stage, through a vineyard, over the same road again, into another vineyard and then for a grand finale he took out an electrical pylon. As the video shows, the wires touched the chassis of the car and trellising in the vineyard, resulting in sparks and small clouds of smoke. The good news is that, aside from a few bruised grapes, there were no reports of any injuries.

Solberg’s co-driver, Chris Patterson, stated in an interview: “Unfortunately we were pushing quite hard and we slid a tiny bit too wide on this corner here and we went into the vineyard.”

NB: A tiny bit too wide!?!? Mr. Patterson officially wins the award for understatement of the century!!!

Here is a video of the crash:
