They essentially started as bootleggers that were barely old enough to drink.
Brandon Allen, now 27, was working in construction and attending an occasional college class in San Luis Obispo. Bo Silliman, now 25, was studying premed at the University of Louisville in Kentucky in between throwing keggers. And 27-year-old Chip Forsythe, who didn’t have a whole lot to recommend him other than he was a decent wrestler, had somehow managed to get into Cal Poly.
Chip Forsythe and Bo Silliman were best friends in high school back in Dallas. After moving to San Luis Obispo to go to college, Forsythe met Brandon Allen when they started dating roommates. Eventually, all three would come together to keep the party going – straight into building a budding wine brand that bucks convention.

90 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate:
"Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Chardonnay, and a bit of Marsanne… delightfully scented with honeysuckle and iris…its palate (a) combination of juicy lime with the bite of cress (and) tangerine rind… finishes with a striking sense of levity…mouthwatering. Look for it to prove phenomenally versatile over the next 12-18 months."
What W90+ think:
This beauty will enthral those that are open-minded to new experiences! It reminds us of high-quality white Rhone wines that sell in the $20-$25 range. This would be a great match with take-out Thai food!

It’s no secret that Pinterest has taken the Internet by storm, with its veritable ocean of funny cat photos, inspiring haircuts, motivating quotes, and creative DIY projects for around the home.
I have however started to question some of these “pins”. What I’d really like to know is if the majority of these “creative ideas” are actually tried and tested by the author? Or, are they just taking the piss, and copying and pasting together a bunch of photos from Google Images, trying to make us believe they’re ever-so creative in their own home?
Anyway, so here’s one I stumbled across yesterday for: 12 Creative Ways to Recycle Wine Bottles. I’ve duly followed each one with my own personal thoughts…

A wine expert’s “acute sense of taste” may mean that expert ratings and recommendations are irrelevant to wine consumers who were not born with the ability to discern small differences in a broad range of tastes, according to a team of international researchers.
"What we found is that the fundamental taste ability of an expert is different," said John Hayes, assistant professor, food science, and director of Penn State’s sensory evaluation center. "And, if an expert’s ability to taste is different from the rest of us, should we be listening to their recommendations?"
In a taste test, wine experts showed more sensitivity to tastes than average wine consumers.
"Just like people can be color blind, they can also be taste blind," said Hayes.
The researchers also found that people who were more adventurous in trying new foods were also more willing to drink new types of wines and alcoholic beverages, but this food adventurousness did not necessarily predict wine expertise. While wine experts were more likely to try new wines and alcoholic beverages, Hayes said they were not more likely to try new foods.
