Industry attacks psychologist for flawed taste testThe wine industry has attacked Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at Hertfordshire University, for claiming that most people can’t distinguish between cheap and fine wine, but “fool themselves into thinking expensive wines taste better.”
So there has been a little controversy over the methodology this guy used to determine that 578 people couldn’t tell the difference between wine priced at £3.49 compared to wine at £29.99. People are going to be conducting these experiments until the end of time, and all I know is that wine is EXTREMELY subjective. You like what you like, and there’s no disputing that, however I do think that wineries collectively should be doing more to educate consumers as to the attributes of good quality wine.

Winery’s marketing leaves a bad taste for someAt the Naked Winery tasting room in downtown Custer, the double entendres flow as easily as the wine does.
Naked Winery is an Oregon-based winery with a risque approach to naming and marketing its wines, with its new line of wines taking sexually suggestive wine names such as Foreplay Chardonnay, Penetration Cabernet and Tease Riesling
Tacky for sure, but I have no doubt there is a market for it! Sex shops maybe?

Funeral Home Becomes Wine Tasting RoomThe former Richard Pierce Funeral Service building at Silverado Trail and Lincoln Avenue will live again as a wine tasting venue.
Creepy!
In ancient Babylon, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead (fermented honey beverage) he could drink for a month after the wedding. Because their calendar was lunar -based, this period of free mead was called the "honey month," or what we now call the "honeymoon."
I stumbled across these cool lampshades for your wine glass!
The Gorgeous Helen lampshade pack comes with three parchment shades that each fit neatly over the top of a wine glass. Drop a tea light into the glass, spark it up and – voila! – you’ve got a totally hip wine-themed light for your next dinner party. I checked out a few different sites and the cheapest that I could find a pack for is $18 for 3 shades, available from Emmo Home.

I’m probably going to start transitioning these type of articles to a separate website (I just purchased KrisChislett.com a couple of days ago), but for now I am happy to host them here. Please note that I could have easily turned this article into a book on this subject, but (as always) I wanted to keep it short and to the point.
If you have any questions about any of the information in this article, please feel free to either send an email to kris@blogyourwine.com, tweet me at twitter.com/krischislett, or just leave a comment under this post.
For the sake of this article I am going to strongly advise you that if you are venturing into the “Twitterverse” you use Tweetdeck. There are other tools out there, and I’ve tried the main ones, but nothing compares to Tweetdeck.
Just as a heads-up, in keeping this article along the wine theme, the content is skewed toward wineries specifically, but it is very easy to translate it to be used for other businesses.
Last note before I start the article: I have to confess, I used to be one of those “why would I need to Tweet that I am at home / Starbucks / the bathroom etc…” kind-of-people. It took me quite a while to really get on board with Twitter. I think I have a lot to say, it’s just that I generally don’t just speak for the sake of speaking. If anything I’m more of a listener than a speaker, which as it turns out is EXACTLY what Twitter is supposed to be used for (at least as it relate to businesses)!
